A 6-hours Tokyo private walking tour
After breakfast, meet your guide to begin a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo. This custom-made journey is designed to showcase the city’s unique harmony between ancient tradition and futuristic energy.
Choose Your Adventure
Since the tour is fully customizable, you can focus on the areas that interest you most:
- Traditional Tokyo (Asakusa): Visit the historic Senso-ji Temple, stroll through the Nakamise shopping street for traditional snacks, and explore the “retro” vibes of the city’s oldest district.
- Modern Energy (Shibuya & Harajuku): Brave the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing, visit the serene Meiji Jingu Shrine nestled in a massive forest, and see the quirky youth fashion of Takeshita Street.
- Pop Culture & Tech (Akihabara): Dive into the world of anime, manga, and electronics in “Electric Town,” where you can explore multi-story hobby shops and themed cafes.
- Gourmet Flavors (Tsukiji): Wander the Tsukiji Outer Market to sample some of the world’s freshest seafood and Japanese street food.
Included: Private Expert Guide and Custom Walking Itinerary.
Mount Fuji Private Tour with Guide
After breakfast, your private driver-guide will take you on a customizable journey to the spiritual and natural highlights of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. This day combines the majestic presence of Japan’s highest peak with the volcanic wonders and deep history of Hakone.
Tour Highlights
- Mt. Fuji: Journey to the 5th Station (weather permitting) or visit the Chureito Pagoda for the quintessential view of the red gate framed by the snow-capped volcano. Explore Oshino Hakkai, a traditional village with eight crystal-clear ponds fed by melting mountain snow.
- Hakone & Lake Ashi: Take a scenic cruise across Lake Ashi on a pirate-style ship. From the deck, you can see the famous “floating” red torii gate of Hakone Shrine with Mt. Fuji towering in the background.
- Volcanic Wonders: Ride the Hakone Ropeway over the steaming vents of Owakudani. Here, you can taste the famous “black eggs” boiled in the sulfurous waters—legend says each one adds seven years to your life!
- History & Culture: Walk the ancient Cedar Avenue, part of the old Tokaido road used by samurai and pilgrims during the Edo period.
Included: Private English-speaking driver-guide, customized vehicle transfers, and hotel pick-up/drop-off.
Snow Monkey Day Tour with Beef Sukiyaki Lunch
Leave the neon lights of Tokyo behind for a day in the snowy peaks of Nagano. This journey takes you into the heart of “Hell’s Valley” to meet Japan’s most famous residents and witness a magical winter festival.
- Jigokudani Monkey Park: Embark on a scenic 30-minute forest walk to reach the natural hot spring where wild Japanese Macaques (Snow Monkeys) bathe to stay warm. Observe their complex social lives and “human-like” expressions as they soak in the steaming water.
- Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Japanese set lunch at a local restaurant, featuring seasonal ingredients from the Nagano region.
- Iiyama Kamakura Village: Step into a winter fairy tale at this seasonal village. You’ll see dozens of kamakura (traditional snow huts) and can visit the unique Kamakura Shrine, housed entirely within a giant snow dome. At night, the village is beautifully illuminated, creating a mesmerizing glow against the snow.
Included: Round-trip Transport from Tokyo, Expert Guide, Park Entry, and Lunch.
Nikko World Heritage Site Private Full-Day Trip
After breakfast, escape Tokyo for the mountain serenity of Nikko, a UNESCO-listed treasure. Begin at the magnificent Toshogu Shrine, marveling at its gold-leaf carvings and the famous “Three Wise Monkeys.” Continue your spiritual journey through the ancient cedar forests to visit the historic Rinno-ji Temple and Futarasan Shrine, where Japan’s deep traditions blend seamlessly with nature.
In the afternoon, head higher into the mountains to witness the thunderous Kegon Falls and the tranquil shores of Lake Chuzenji, which offer breathtaking winter views. Throughout the day, your private guide will tailor the pace to your interests, ensuring a luxurious and personalized exploration of this sacred landscape before returning to Tokyo.
Included: Private Transfer, Expert Guide, and UNESCO Site Entry Fees.
Free day
Today is yours to explore Tokyo at your own pace! If you’d like to add some structure to your free day, here are a few highly-rated optional experiences:
TeamLab Borderless or Planets: Immerse yourself in world-famous digital art installations where flowers bloom across walls and water reacts to your footsteps. These are incredibly popular, so pre-booking is essential.
Shibuya Sky & Harajuku: Head to the open-air observation deck at Shibuya Sky for the best panoramic views of the city (including Mt. Fuji on clear days). Afterward, walk to nearby Harajuku to explore the vintage shops of Omotesando and the trendy street food on Takeshita Street.
Ghibli Museum or Ghibli Park: For fans of Japanese animation, a visit to the whimsical world of Studio Ghibli is a must. These tickets often sell out months in advance, so let me know if you need help checking availability.
Yanaka Ginza “Old Town” Walk: If you want a break from the skyscrapers, visit the Yanaka district. It’s one of the few areas that survived WWII, offering a “shitamachi” (old downtown) atmosphere with traditional shops, temples, and a famous sunset staircase.
Kitchenware & Culture in Kappabashi: Located near Asakusa, this is the “Chef’s Town” of Tokyo. You can buy professional Japanese knives and even participate in a workshop to make your own realistic plastic food samples.
Farewell Japan
Snap your final photos of Tokyo before heading to Haneda Airport (HND) to catch your flight back home.
Travel Plan & Logistics
Accommodations
We will provide you with a list of accommodation options based on your budget and any preferences you provide to us once your trip is confirmed – this gives you the opportunity to select the hotel that best suits your taste.
Dates of travel
The best time to visit Japan is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).
Spring is celebrated for cherry blossoms, mild weather, and a sense of renewal across cities and temples. Autumn offers crisp air, fewer crowds, and striking foliage—especially in Kyoto and the Japanese Alps.
For travelers seeking fewer visitors and curated experiences, early summer (June) and winter (December to February) can also be rewarding. Summer brings vibrant festivals, while winter offers serene temples, snow-covered landscapes, and exceptional cuisine—particularly appealing for those who enjoy quieter, more exclusive travel. Japan rewards every season; the ideal time ultimately depends on the experience you wish to curate.
