Details
Iceland is a destination unlike anywhere else in the world, where dramatic landscapes, ancient legends, and powerful natural forces come together. An Iceland holiday takes you from the vibrant streets of Reykjavik into a breathtaking world of volcanoes, glaciers, black-sand beaches, waterfalls, geothermal springs, and endless wilderness.
Begin your Iceland vacation in Reykjavik, a colourful and welcoming capital surrounded by extraordinary nature. Explore its distinctive architecture, lively cafés, local restaurants, and fascinating Nordic culture before venturing beyond the city to discover the landscapes that make Iceland one of Europe’s most remarkable travel destinations.
The famous Golden Circle is an essential part of any Iceland itinerary. Witness the spectacular power of Gullfoss waterfall, watch the Strokkur geyser erupt, and explore Thingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s dramatic geology and fascinating history meet. Further along the south coast, discover powerful waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, glaciers, and the striking black sands of Reynisfjara Beach.
Iceland’s natural beauty becomes even more magical when experienced through its geothermal waters. Relax in the warm, mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon, surrounded by volcanic scenery, or discover quieter geothermal pools where you can experience one of the country’s most distinctive traditions. Every experience reveals another side of Iceland’s extraordinary relationship with nature.
For many travellers, the ultimate highlight of an Iceland holiday is the Northern Lights. From autumn through winter and into early spring, Iceland’s dark Arctic skies offer the possibility of witnessing the Aurora Borealis dancing above the landscape. Combined with snow-covered mountains, frozen waterfalls, and remote wilderness, the experience feels almost otherworldly.
But Iceland is not only about spectacular scenery. Its Viking heritage, Nordic traditions, innovative cuisine, and deep connection with nature create a culture that is just as fascinating as its landscapes. Taste fresh Icelandic seafood, explore local villages, meet the people who call this extraordinary island home, and experience the unique rhythm of life at the edge of the North Atlantic.
At JoVacations, we transform an Iceland trip into a carefully curated travel experience, combining the country’s iconic sights with authentic discoveries and unforgettable moments. Whether you are looking for a romantic Iceland getaway, an adventurous road trip, a Northern Lights escape, or a luxury Iceland holiday, this extraordinary island offers a journey that stays with you long after you return home.

Once night falls, the real thrill begins as you climb into a powerful 4×4 Super Truck for an exclusive Northern Lights safari. Your expert guide will navigate rugged off-road terrain into the deep Icelandic wilderness, chasing clear skies far from the city lights. Watching the brilliant green Aurora dance across a pitch-black sky while sipping hot cocoa in the crisp arctic air is a magical, bucket-list moment you will never forget.
Morning walking city tour & evening food tour
Kick off your day with a lively walking tour of Reykjavik, the perfect introduction to life in the capital. Your expert guide will bring Iceland’s vibrant history and folklore to life as you wander through the colorful city center. Explore the shimmering glass architecture of Harpa Concert Hall, stroll along the historic Reykjavik Harbour, and stand before the stone Parliament building. The highlight is visiting the soaring, basalt-inspired spire of Hallgrímskirkja Church, where you will finally learn how to confidently pronounce its name.
Evening: Icelandic Food Walk
As dusk settles, treat your tastebuds to an intimate Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour. Limited to just 12 guests, this small-group evening walk features a passionate local guide who weaves history and entertainment together between bites. Wandering through the old town, you will visit handpicked culinary hotspots to sample ten traditional delicacies, learning how early settlers mastered arctic survival.
Note: The tour accommodates vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free preferences, though traditional Icelandic food is naturally heavy on premium meats, fresh fish, and rich dairy.
Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon & Kerid Volcano
The Golden Circle Wonders
Your day begins with a scenic drive past the dramatic peaks of Mount Esja toward the historic Golden Circle. First, explore Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can walk through the dramatic rift valley separating the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. It is a place of profound history, where Viking chieftains founded the world’s oldest surviving Parliament in 930 AD.
Next, enter the bubbling Haukadalur valley to witness the explosive power of the Strokkur geyser, which reliably shoots plumes of super-heated water 30 meters into the sky every few minutes. From there, feel the earth shake at Gullfoss, a roaring double-dropped waterfall crashing into a rugged canyon, creating endless sheets of spray and brilliant rainbows. You will round out the sights with a stop at Kerið, a striking 3,000-year-old volcanic crater featuring vivid red earth, mossy greens, and a brilliant neon-blue lake at its center.
Geothermal Luxury
After an exhilarating day of sightseeing, transition into pure bliss at the world-famous Blue Lagoon. Nestled inside a dramatic black lava field, these mineral-rich, milky-blue waters are naturally heated to a perfect, soothing temperature. Slather on some rejuvenating silica mud, grab a drink from the swim-up bar, and let the gentle steam wash away your worries in this tranquil arctic oasis.
Iceland’s Legendary South Coast Beauty
Charge down Iceland’s dramatic South Coast, starting at Gljúfrabúi, a secret waterfall tucked inside a narrow canyon where you will step straight into a misty, echoing cavern. Next, feel the spray at Seljalandsfoss as you hike the thrilling trail completely behind its roaring 60-meter veil of water. Your waterfall trio ends at Skógafoss, a colossal powerhouse that regularly conjures brilliant double rainbows right at your feet.
The daytime finale brings you to Reynisfjara, a world-famous black sand beach guarded by towering, geometric basalt cliffs. Feel the adrenaline as the crashing Atlantic waves boom against the shore—just keep a safe distance from the beach’s legendary, unpredictable sneaker waves! As night falls, you will retreat to a remote wilderness hotel in the dark southeast, the ultimate front-row seat to watch the neon Northern Lights dance across the arctic sky.
Glacier Lagoon & Super Jeep Ice Cave Adventure
Wake up in Vatnajökull National Park and step onto Diamond Beach, where massive chunks of translucent ice wash ashore, glistening like diamonds against jet-black sand. Just steps away, witness the breathtaking Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here, monumental, ash-striped icebergs drift silently toward the ocean while curious seals play in the freezing waters.
Hop into a monster Super Jeep to charge across the frozen wilderness of Europe’s largest glacier. Strap on crampons and plunge into the spellbinding Blue Ice Cave, a naturally formed underworld of glowing, crystalline chambers. On the scenic drive back to Reykjavik, you will pause at the fairytale Hofskirkja Turf Church and cruise past the sweeping, moss-covered Eldhraun lava field.

Travel Plan & Logistics
Accommodations
We will provide you with a list of accommodation options based on your budget and any preferences you provide to us once your trip is confirmed – this gives you the opportunity to select the hotel that best suits your taste.
Dates of travel
The best time to travel to Iceland depends on the experience you want. June to August brings long daylight hours, milder weather, green landscapes, and excellent conditions for exploring the Golden Circle, waterfalls, glaciers, and Iceland’s scenic countryside. For the Northern Lights, plan your Iceland holiday between September and April, when longer hours of darkness create the best opportunity to witness the Aurora Borealis. September and October and March and April offer a beautiful balance of winter experiences, changing landscapes, and fewer visitors.
