Afternoon & Evening: Ice Palaces & Glass Igloos

Head to the Arctic SnowHotel, a fairytale complex rebuilt entirely from snow and ice each winter. Tour the hand-carved ice rooms, crystalline bar, and frozen restaurant. Afterward, gather inside a cozy, fire-lit Kota—a rustic log structure modeled after traditional Sámi dwellings—to savor a hearty 3-course dinner of local Lappish specialties. Conclude your evening with a traditional Finnish sauna before falling asleep inside a private glass igloo, watching for the Northern Lights from your bed.

Sámi culture & The Santa Claus village

Morning: Reindeer Farm & Arctic Circle Crossing

Fuel up with a hearty breakfast at the resort before setting off into the winter wilderness. At a local reindeer farm, you will dive into the rich culture of the indigenous Sámi people, learning how deep-rooted herding traditions survive in the far north. Hop into a wooden sleigh for a peaceful, traditional reindeer ride over the packed snow, before joining your local hosts for a memorable, celebratory ceremony as you officially cross the geographical boundary of the Arctic Circle.

Afternoon: Santa Claus Village

Next, venture to the world-famous Santa Claus Village, the ultimate festive fairytale come to life. Enjoy free time to wander the snowy pathways, shop for unique Nordic souvenirs, and drop off postcards marked with the official Arctic postmark at Santa’s Main Post Office. The highlight of the afternoon is a private audience to meet Santa Claus himself inside his wooden office. Afterward, head back to Rovaniemi to spend a relaxing evening at your own pace.

Travel Note: For peak winter departures (December 1 to January 6), you will travel between locations via a warm, comfortable bus. For departures outside these holiday dates, you’ll embark on a thrilling snowmobile ride to the farm instead!

Once on the ice, the roaring engines fade into a profound, peaceful silence. You will learn the traditional art of drilling an ice hole to drop a fishing line into the frozen depths. To top off the adventure, gather around a roaring wilderness campfire to fry up your fresh catch right on the ice before riding back to Rovaniemi for a well-earned rest.
